Spout offers a single resource that covers all genres of past and recent movie releases. Visitors can search for their favorites or new titles in a number of ways and read through other user reviews. A number of other film related resources are available, including trailers, podcasts and news. Users can also communicate and share movie lists or discuss films with the Spout community.

The creators of Spout wanted to put together a single site for movie viewers to congregate and share information. The atmosphere was designed to promote community growth, adding to the existing list of reviews and movie information found on Spout. Today, the film community is thriving and the list of resources has grown significantly to make Spout a vast database for film reviews and information.

Spout takes elements of other film themed websites and places a greater focus on user participation. The community provides information and comments that are the foundation of discussions, lists and other features. Although the casual visitor may not opt to participate in the community, Spout still offers another place to get honest, candid reviews on recent releases. The reviews are posted by real people, not a paid reviewer or high end movie critic. This helps make the opinions offered more identifiable for the average visitor.

The Spout site design could use a little work. A new visitor may feel overwhelmed by the clutter and various links that wallpaper the homepage. A handful of ads are also thrown into the mix, which really doesn’t help the site’s appearance. Some of these are animated, which makes the website a little busier than would otherwise be comfortable for a new user. All the necessary tools for navigation are present, and once found can help users become more comfortable finding the resources they want on Spout.

The small yellow sign up link is found tucked into the login bar at the top of the homepage. Once the registration page loads, the actual username, password and email entry fields are found in the right hand side bar. The password is only requested once, rather than twice for correct spelling verification, so users should take their time when entering to avoid a problem.

New users can create a Sprout account for free. There is no charge to access the features offered on the website. However, that being said, users will have to deal with the occasional advertisement. If movies and socializing are attractive benefits, then a new user can really get into the Sprout community. Otherwise, the advertisements and busy appearance might be a little less attractive, despite the no cost access.

Film buffs can get into movie discussions and review features found on Spout. Even less film-oriented people can turn to Spout as a review resource or to check out trailers. The free account option makes it easy for anyone to try. However, there are other more renowned movie websites available that some users may prefer over Spout’s busy layout. Visitors who love to get involved in social settings may have more reason to return to Spout for conversation and to share their opinions.
